Collect every known variant
List old business names, previous addresses, old local and tracking phone numbers, misspellings, suite-number formats, practitioner names, and former website domains.
These variants become search keys for finding stale profiles.
Search by phone and address
Phone numbers are particularly useful because an old listing may keep the old number even after the business name changes. Search the full number in quotes as well as common formatted versions.
Search addresses with and without suite numbers and search old addresses even if the business moved years ago.
Use tools for scale
Audit tools can compare discovered listings with the business information you supply and flag inconsistent fields. This is faster than spreadsheet-only research when you manage many locations.
Always spot-check important results because automated discovery can miss unindexed listings or occasionally surface another business.
Build a correction queue
Record the directory, profile URL, wrong field, account access state, verification requirement, and correction status. Work from the most visible sources outward.
